Mobile App Development Process: 6 Steps From Idea to App Store
The six steps that take a mobile app idea to the App Store and Google Play, what is expected from you at each step and the decisions that shape the budget.

Many businesses with an app idea get stuck at the same point: where to start, how long it takes and which decisions drive the budget. Here are the six steps from idea to App Store and Google Play, and what we need from you at each step.
1. Discovery: what problem does the app solve?
The first step is questions, not code. Who will use the app, which job does it make easier and how will you measure success? We define the target users, the core features and what the first release must include. Starting with a focused first version (MVP) shortens both timeline and budget considerably.
2. Platform and technology
Separate native apps for iOS and Android, or one cross-platform codebase? For most business apps, cross-platform delivers both platforms with one team at a lower cost. Native development is the better fit for graphics-heavy apps, low-level hardware access or platform-specific experiences.
3. Design: screen flows and prototype
Every screen is designed so users finish a task in as few steps as possible. We map the flows first, then build a clickable prototype. Changes at prototype stage are far cheaper than after coding, so take time to review it.
4. Development: app, API and admin panel
A mobile app usually has three parts: the app on the phone, the server side (API) that manages data, and a web admin panel for content, users and orders. Development runs in short cycles and you can try a test build on your own phone after each one.
5. Testing and store release
The app is tested on different screen sizes, OS versions and weak connections. Then comes store preparation: name, descriptions, screenshots and privacy policy. The Apple Developer Program costs USD 99 per year and a Google Play developer account a one-time USD 25; opening the accounts in your company's name keeps ownership of the app with you. Store reviews usually take a few days.
6. After launch: measurement, maintenance and new releases
Launch is the start, not the end. We measure how people use the app, track crash reports and plan new releases from feedback. Yearly iOS and Android updates may also need compatibility work, so plan maintenance from the start.
How long does it take and what does it cost?
Timeline and cost depend on the number of screens and feature complexity. Starting prices of our packages (excluding VAT):
- Starter (from 90,000 TRY): catalogue, booking or information apps; up to 10 screens, content admin panel, push notifications and store release.
- Professional (from 250,000 TRY): accounts, in-app payments, maps and integrations; up to 25 screens.
- Enterprise (from 500,000 TRY): multi-role apps, real-time tracking and ERP/CRM integrations.

Conclusion
A good mobile app is a process that starts with the right questions and continues after launch. Let's talk about your project and define the first release together, or learn more about our mobile app development service.
